KEY COMPONENTS

Equity Coaching
An equity-based professional development program encouraged to create liberatory equity mindsets by providing educators with a unique and intentional learning experience so that they can meet the needs of each student in order for them to be successful and be their best selves daily.

Wraparound Approach
A team-based planning process intended to provide individualized and family-driven care to meet the physical, emotional, and mental needs of children.

Elements of Wraparound Approach

Family Engagement:

Empower families to address the growing academic achievement gap in part due to the pandemic and other socioeconomic conditions. Providing accountability coaching for both parents and students.

Staff Professional Development:

Coaching sessions with teachers regarding race, equity and tools to increase engagement and communications  with students and families.

Equity and Experiential Learning:

Bringing real-world issues into the classroom to draw on students’ culture to shape curriculum and instruction. Experiential learning lets the students think of solutions for real-world problems by producing projects or outputs that highlight their problem-solving and innovative skills. One project that CW was able to develop was taking 4th-grade students out for field trips to farm and farmers’ markets to have them establish a deeper understanding of what food does to help them make healthy choices.

Mentorship with High School Students:

A series of life coaching sessions for high school students that empowers our young leaders as they progress to the next steps in their life. The program aims to develop communication and leadership skills while taking a deep dive into the different areas of their lives determining what works and areas/strategies for improvement. At risk high school students who require support with additional credits will have the opportunity to engage affiliate middle and elementary school students in a supervised setting as mentors during and after school.
